    ForeFlight Graphical Preflight Briefing
This video walks you through how to use ForeFlight's graphical preflight briefing.
    Fundamentals Course

Ryan McBride, ForeFlight's lead product designer, walks you through the basics of ForeFlight, from choosing and buying an iPad, to navigating the different "views" in the app, to planning simple flight plans. If you're just getting started with ForeFlight, this course is for you. If you already know the basics of ForeFlight and want to explore some of the more advanced features, check out our Power Users course here: https://foreflight.com/support/video-library/watch/?v=power-users-course

    Global Procedure Advisor

All ForeFlight customers can now access international departures, arrivals, and approaches using Procedure Advisor, expanding the scope of ForeFlight’s global planning capabilities.

These global flight planning features are further enhanced by adding Jeppesen’s industry-leading charts to your ForeFlight account. Check out our other videos on purchasing Jeppesen charts through ForeFlight and linking an existing Jeppesen account to learn more.

    Helpful Web Features
ForeFlight on the web includes helpful features that enable fast flight planning from your desktop browser.
Icing, Turbulence, and Surface Analysis Layers

ForeFlight’s weather capabilities now include five new layers for icing, turbulence, and surface analysis forecasts, available on Pro Plus, Performance Plus, and Business Performance plans. The Icing and Turbulence layers each have a US and global option, and the Surface Analysis layer provides a global view of isobars and associated pressure readings, and a more detailed view of pressure centers, fronts, troughs, and other features for North America. All five of the new layers are also available on ForeFlight’s web application.

    Import Custom User Charts

In addition to user waypoints and user map layers, ForeFlight now allows you to import User Charts that you can manage and display on the map.

The User Charts feature supports MBTiles, an open source file format developed by MapBox that allows for efficient compression and distribution of large charts. The feature does not yet support vector charts, which can also use the .mbtiles extension. A great tool for creating your own MBtiles is MapTiler, which is free to download and allows you to quickly georeference and export raster charts.

    Introducing ForeFlight Briefing
Available with ForeFlight Mobile 7.4, ForeFlight Briefing is a graphical, translated, interactive briefing that helps you better visualize weather and related flight information along your proposed route.
    iPhone 2/3 View
2/3 view is a new design paradigm in ForeFlight on the iPhone that allows you to access information about map elements without losing sight of the map itself. When combined with Single Tap and Aeronautical Maps, 2/3 view becomes a powerful tool for flight planning. 2/3 view also works with the tap-hold gesture, as well as the Map Settings menu, allowing you to see what changes you're making to the map without closing the menu.
    Managing Downloads
Before you take off, be sure to download all the charts, maps, and information you will need for your flight. This video shows you how to do this.
    Medium- to Long-Range Flight Planning
Our go/no-go decisions are often influenced by the forecast weather on our return trip. You want to minimize exposure to adverse weather and that means making decisions based on medium- to long-range forecasts. Looking at the long-range forecast crystal ball can be tricky and is a subject that is not emphasized in primary training. This program provides some tips on how to leverage long-range forecasts to better plan and also maintain the highest level of safety.
