ForeFlight Checklist

March 28, 2017

ForeFlight Checklist integrates one of the most important inflight tools at your disposal into the app you already use for every stage of flight, reducing cockpit clutter and providing an intuitive, simple interface. Checklist is included with our Basic Plus and Pro Plus subscription plans, or as an add-on with other plans. Upgrade at foreflight.com/pricing.

Managing Downloads
Before you take off, be sure to download all the charts, maps, and information you will need for your flight. This video shows you how to do this.
Send To
The Send To button on the Maps view provides some quick and easy ways to send a route to different parts of the app or share it with others.
Improved Planning Features

ForeFlight now offers an enhanced flight planning workflow thanks to improvements to aircraft, the Maps view flight plan editor, and the File & Brief view, which is now called “Flights”.

This video is for ForeFlight customers with subscription plans other than Performance Plus, including the original plans and the Basic Plus and Pro Plus plans. If you have the Performance Plus plan, or want to see what is different with that plan, check out our Performance video series.

Introducing ForeFlight Logbook
Logbook integrates seamlessly with the rest of the ForeFlight app to make flight logging easier than ever. With advanced features like automatic entries from Track Logs, encrypted instructor signatures and endorsements, real-time syncing across all your devices, and automatic backups to the ForeFlight Cloud, keeping a digital logbook is simple, efficient and secure.
Enhanced Documents

ForeFlight’s Documents view has an enhanced layout that makes it easier to find, download, and access documents. Documents are also included in ForeFlight’s Sync system, allowing you to access your documents, annotations, and bookmarks from any device. And finally, Documents are now supported on the iPhone, making them even more accessible. Visit https://foreflight.com/documents/ to learn more.

Customize the Aeronautical Map
ForeFlight's data-driven Aeronautical Maps allow you to customize which map elements you show or hide. You can also choose between Light, Dark, and Classic map themes and toggle terrain features on and off. With the Aeronautical layer selected you can add or remove airspace, view high or low airways, and adjust label text size. Try mixing and matching the new map settings to find the combination that works best for you.
Enabling Terrain
Having trouble finding the Terrain layer in ForeFlight 8? It just moved next door to the Map Settings menu. You can also recreate the World Map from the Map Settings menu by turning on Place Labels.
Fundamentals Course - Oshkosh July 2019

Ryan McBride, ForeFlight's lead product designer, walks you through the basics of ForeFlight, from choosing and buying an iPad, to navigating the different "views" in the app, to planning simple flights. If you're just getting started with ForeFlight, this course is for you. If you already know the basics of ForeFlight and want to explore some of the more advanced features, check out our Power Users course here.

Using the Airports View
The Airports view is your all-in-one source for any kind of information about airports. From current and forecast weather to runways, procedures, and FBOs, the Airports view is one of the most important places in ForeFlight when it comes to flight planning.
Helpful Web Features
ForeFlight on the web includes helpful features that enable fast flight planning from your desktop browser.
Pack For Your Flight
Pack is like a trip kit and ensures you'll never be caught in the air without the charts, maps, NOTAMs, and other important data you need. Pack analyzes your route and queues up what is missing from your device - download everything to your iPad or iPhone with a single tap. Charts downloaded with Pack can be found in the Downloads view and deleted after a flight, and more temporary data like weather and fuel prices are automatically removed after reconnecting to Wi-Fi.

iPad Setup Tips
This video covers some basic iPad settings we recommend to get the best experience from ForeFlight Mobile.
Distance Rings
Keep an eye on how far you are from nearby airports, obstacles, and landmarks using distance rings. You can set the rings to automatically grow and shrink as you change zoom level, or set them to display flight times rather than distances. This simple tool is a must-have for maximizing inflight situational awareness.
