Multi-pilot account administrators can manage and distribute company aircraft profiles to all the pilots on an account, allowing for easier aircraft management and reduced setup time for large accounts.
Shared aircraft appear in the Aircraft list for all pilots on the account, along with a tag showing the email address of the administrator who published the aircraft. Pilots can view the details of shared aircraft and use them for flight planning, but all details of the aircraft are locked from editing by the pilots, including the performance profiles.
If the account administrator makes any changes to a shared aircraft, a “Publish Changes” button will appear in the bottom-right, allowing them to instantly distribute the changes to every pilot on the account. Clicking “Unpublish” will revoke access to the aircraft for all users other than the administrator, and they will no longer be able to see or use the aircraft for flight planning.
Profile view in ForeFlight now depicts airspace along your route, providing you with valuable information for flight planning and inflight use beyond terrain and obstacle avoidance. Profile view is available with Pro subscriptions and above.
Bullseye in ForeFlight Military Flight Bag is a versatile and powerful feature that simplifies mission planning and tactical decision-making. Bullseye is available with all Military Flight Bag subscription plans. Bullseye allows you to define an arbitrary point on the map and measure your own and other’s positions in relation to that point.
European pilots can improve their planning and flying experience with flexible chart options in ForeFlight, including both IFR and VFR charts that pack all the essentials you need into one integrated app. European subscriptions include Jeppesen VFR and IFR data built into ForeFlight’s map, and charts and AIPs for supported countries via EUROCONTROL, giving you a solid foundation for any type of flying. Additionally, you can select optional VFR chart and AIP add-ons as part of your subscription to enhance your VFR flying with your preferred chart providers.
Performance profiles in ForeFlight make it easy to set up aircraft performance data for different power settings, but you can also adjust performance data for a flight without using performance profiles.
Just type space-separated values for cruise speed and/or fuel flow directly into the Flight Plan Editor at the end of the route string, using standard abbreviations to indicate units for speeds and fuel flow, such as KTS for knots, MPH for miles per hour, GPH for gallons per hour, and PPH for pounds per hour.
ForeFlight will use any values you add this way to calculate performance results instead of the performance profiles. The performance profile field on the left will show the new values in parentheses to indicate this temporary override. If you delete the new values in the Flight Plan Editor, ForeFlight will revert to using the values in the performance profile.
Being able to quickly specify different performance values right in the Maps view provides valuable flexibility when planning a flight.
This webinar event (recorded May 2016) is an advanced ForeFlight course. Dominik walks you through both VFR and IFR features of the app from a Canadian perspective. You will learn how to use the app to its fullest from planning to inflight navigation. Pilots at any level will learn something new, however this course is beyond beginner level and is geared towards pilots who have at least some working knowledge of the app.
The first two things you should do after installing ForeFlight are select the charts and data that you want to download and create aircraft profiles that you will use for flight planning.
IMPORTANT: ForeFlight uses your aircraft's ICAO filing codes to check routes you plan for EUROCONTROL validity, so if you don't add filing codes then most routes will be INVALID.
Ryan McBride, ForeFlight's lead product designer, walks you through the basics of ForeFlight, from choosing and buying an iPad, to navigating the different "views" in the app, to planning simple flight plans. If you're just getting started with ForeFlight, this course is for you. If you already know the basics of ForeFlight and want to explore some of the more advanced features, check out our Power Users course here: https://foreflight.com/support/video-library/watch/?v=power-users-course
All ForeFlight customers can now access international departures, arrivals, and approaches using Procedure Advisor, expanding the scope of ForeFlight’s global planning capabilities.
These global flight planning features are further enhanced by adding Jeppesen’s industry-leading charts to your ForeFlight account. Check out our other videos on purchasing Jeppesen charts through ForeFlight and linking an existing Jeppesen account to learn more.
