Aircraft Manager for Multi-Pilot Accounts

Multi-pilot account administrators can manage and distribute company aircraft profiles to all the pilots on an account, allowing for easier aircraft management and reduced setup time for large accounts.

Shared aircraft appear in the Aircraft list for all pilots on the account, along with a tag showing the email address of the administrator who published the aircraft. Pilots can view the details of shared aircraft and use them for flight planning, but all details of the aircraft are locked from editing by the pilots, including the performance profiles.

If the account administrator makes any changes to a shared aircraft, a “Publish Changes” button will appear in the bottom-right, allowing them to instantly distribute the changes to every pilot on the account. Clicking “Unpublish” will revoke access to the aircraft for all users other than the administrator, and they will no longer be able to see or use the aircraft for flight planning.

Dark App Theme

ForeFlight now allows you to apply a dark theme to the entire app. Go to More - Settings and tap App Theme at the top, then tap Dark. This darkens the background colors on most pages while maintaining highlight colors and prominent white text, so important information is easily visible.

ForeFlight Checklist

ForeFlight Checklist integrates one of the most important inflight tools at your disposal into the app you already use for every stage of flight, reducing cockpit clutter and providing an intuitive, simple interface. Checklist is included with our Basic Plus and Pro Plus subscription plans, or as an add-on with other plans. Upgrade at foreflight.com/pricing.

Improved Planning Features

ForeFlight now offers an enhanced flight planning workflow thanks to improvements to aircraft, the Maps view flight plan editor, and the File & Brief view, which is now called “Flights”.

This video is for ForeFlight customers with subscription plans other than Performance Plus, including the original plans and the Basic Plus and Pro Plus plans. If you have the Performance Plus plan, or want to see what is different with that plan, check out our Performance video series.

Track Logs
ForeFlight Mobile's Track Logging feature allows you to record your flights and view them in Google Earth or on ForeFlight.com, or share them with others.
Automatic Track Logging

This video describes ForeFlight's auto-start, -stop, and -upload capabilities for Track Logs, and how you can automatically create new Logbook entries from Track Logs.

Introducing ForeFlight Logbook
Logbook integrates seamlessly with the rest of the ForeFlight app to make flight logging easier than ever. With advanced features like automatic entries from Track Logs, encrypted instructor signatures and endorsements, real-time syncing across all your devices, and automatic backups to the ForeFlight Cloud, keeping a digital logbook is simple, efficient and secure.
Logbook Photos and More
ForeFlight Logbook allows you to save memories of flights by attaching unlimited photos to flight entries, aircraft profiles, certificates, and endorsements. Use photos to capture the view on approach to the runway, keep a visual record of squawks, or take a selfie of you and your passengers. Also export an FAA 8710 report to serve as a guide for filling out your Airman Certificate/Rating Application, and track your medical certificates, knowledge tests, and aircraft type ratings.
Logbook Entry Summaries
Logbook entry summaries provide an interactive and visual method for sharing Logbook entries.
Logbook Currency Details
Tap on any Currency Summary in ForeFlight Logbook to see detailed information about your progress towards that currency. In the Currency Detail view, the top section shows your progress towards satisfying currency as well as a short description of the FAA requirements for that currency type. Beneath that is a list of all the flights that contribute to currency, followed by a list of all the flights that do not contribute, but which fall within the currency's timeframe, such as 90 days for general VFR currency, and 6 months for IFR currency. This organization makes it easy to see how your flights affect currency, and allows you to easily track down and fix errors in flight entries that should contribute to currency.
Logbook CFI Currency & Aircraft Details

ForeFlight Logbook now supports currency tracking for CFIs, and provides helpful at-a-glance information in the Logbook Aircraft list.

Logbook Aircraft Profile Helper
Complete aircraft profile information is critical to accurate flight currency reporting - ForeFlight Logbook highlights missing information to help your currencies stay on track. If you add an aircraft with missing details to a flight, a warning symbol appears in your currency detail views. Tap on it to see which aircraft need attention and to add the missing information. ForeFlight highlights the relevant fields so you can quickly resolve the issue and get your currency reporting back on track.
Logbook Detail Reports

ForeFlight now supports exporting your entire digital logbook in a traditional logbook format, which you can then print for sharing, gifting, or storing for your records. The new format is available in the Logbook Reports tab, along with the experience and progress reports. Two options are available - condensed and complete.

A common difficulty you may experience when trying to print Logbook detail reports on double-sided pages is that the text on either side of each page is flipped. This is caused by the printer’s binding settings - the default for most printers is long-edge binding, while the detail reports require that short-edge binding be used. This video demonstrates how to change this setting using Adobe Acrobat, but the process may be different based on what printer and program you use.

Helpful Logbook Features
ForeFlight Logbook streamlines your flight logging with intelligent data entry and support for currency-tracking for multiple aircraft types.
Logbook Import
This video walks through the process of transferring data from an exported logbook to the ForeFlight Logbook spreadsheet template, and then uploading that to ForeFlight Web. We recommend this method for anyone with a digital logbook so they can have the easiest upload experience.
LogTen Pro Export
This video walks you through the process of exporting your data from LogTen Pro X so you can import it to ForeFlight Logbook.

Try mixing and matching the new map settings to find the combination that works best for you.
Enabling Terrain
Having trouble finding the Terrain layer in ForeFlight 8? It just moved next door to the Map Settings menu. You can also recreate the World Map from the Map Settings menu by turning on Place Labels.
Basemap and Terrain Improvements

The ForeFlight map engine has a significantly upgraded basemap, which now renders more quickly, smoothly, and with sharper depiction of features such as major roads, railways, national parks, and state and national boundaries. There’s also a new “Shaded Terrain” option, which uses grayscale shading to depict terrain, providing the same level of detail as the colored terrain option with less visual distraction.

In the Map Settings menu, choose from multiple presentations: Colored, Shaded, or None.

Scheduled Flight Search

ForeFlight now allows you to search for aircraft tail numbers, call signs, and flight numbers on the Maps view to see recently filed flight plans.

Dark App Theme

Weather Layer Time Slider

ForeFlight’s radar and satellite layers now use an interactive time slider tool that provides more control when viewing and animating weather timestamps.

Icing, Turbulence, and Surface Analysis Layers

ForeFlight’s weather capabilities now include five new layers for icing, turbulence, and surface analysis forecasts, available on Pro Plus, Performance Plus, and Business Performance plans. The Icing and Turbulence layers each have a US and global option, and the Surface Analysis layer provides a global view of isobars and associated pressure readings, and a more detailed view of pressure centers, fronts, troughs, and other features for North America. All five of the new layers are also available on ForeFlight’s web application.

Opacity Sliders
This handy feature on the Maps view allows you to adjust the opacity of weather overlays and TFRs so you can see details on the chart underneath, without having to remove the overlay entirely. If your subscription includes geo-referenced plates you can also adjust the opacity of plates and taxi charts overlaid on the map.
Profile View
Profile view takes our Hazard Advisor feature into vertical mode and gives you a side view of terrain and obstacles along your planned route. With dynamic color alerting you will know at a glance whether your selected altitude will keep you clear of terrain and obstacle hazards. In flight, Profile shows your current altitude in relation to obstacles or terrain ahead of your track. Profile is a ForeFlight Pro and iPad only feature, and also requires iOS 7.1 or higher.
Pack For Your Flight
Pack is like a trip kit and ensures you'll never be caught in the air without the charts, maps, NOTAMs, and other important data you need. Pack analyzes your route and queues up what is missing from your device - download everything to your iPad or iPhone with a single tap. Charts downloaded with Pack can be found in the Downloads view and deleted after a flight, and more temporary data like weather and fuel prices are automatically removed after reconnecting to Wi-Fi.
Introducing: ForeFlight 8
ForeFlight 8 is a major release that delivers ForeFlight’s new global data-driven aeronautical maps, featuring Continuous Zoom technology and dynamic decluttering powered by an all new map engine, built from the ground up to deliver next-generation maps to pilots. FBOs on Taxi Charts
Use this feature to quickly access ForeFlight's FBO Directory information right from the Taxi Chart. FBO markers make it easy to see exactly where an airport FBO is located. Tap on the FBO marker to check fuel prices and view the available services and amenities for that business.
Annotating Plates and Documents
Annotations in ForeFlight Mobile allow you to mark up plates and documents with an extensive set of annotation tools.
Weight & Balance

ForeFlight Mobile’s Weight & Balance feature allows you to quickly determine whether the aircraft is loaded within its envelope. ForeFlight Mobile’s smart setup interview asks questions about your aircraft and installed options to help you with configuration. Weight & Balance is a ForeFlight Mobile Pro feature.

iPhone 2/3 View
2/3 view is a new design paradigm in ForeFlight on the iPhone that allows you to access information about map elements without losing sight of the map itself. When combined with Single Tap and Aeronautical Maps, 2/3 view becomes a powerful tool for flight planning. 2/3 view also works with the tap-hold gesture, as well as the Map Settings menu, allowing you to see what changes you're making to the map without closing the menu.
Easily Adjust Cruise Speed & Fuel Flow Values

Performance profiles in ForeFlight make it easy to set up aircraft performance data for different power settings, but you can also adjust performance data for a flight without using performance profiles.

Just type space-separated values for cruise speed and/or fuel flow directly into the Flight Plan Editor at the end of the route string, using standard abbreviations to indicate units for speeds and fuel flow, such as KTS for knots, MPH for miles per hour, GPH for gallons per hour, and PPH for pounds per hour.

ForeFlight will use any values you add this way to calculate performance results instead of the performance profiles. The performance profile field on the left will show the new values in parentheses to indicate this temporary override. If you delete the new values in the Flight Plan Editor, ForeFlight will revert to using the values in the performance profile.

Being able to quickly specify different performance values right in the Maps view provides valuable flexibility when planning a flight.

User Map Shapes

Visit foreflight.com/map-shapes for additional information about this feature and to download sample KML files.

Import Custom User Charts

In addition to user waypoints and user map layers, ForeFlight now allows you to import User Charts that you can manage and display on the map.
